Since August of 2006 I have been the IBS's in-house web designer and multimedia director.
During this time, I have done several major and incremental design changes to the site, updating not only content, layout and structure, but including multimedia, community building, and syndicated content features.
Using a mix of XHTML, Ajax, PHP/MySQL and plain old-fashioned HTML, the site functions as both a resource for currently enrolled students and a marketing tool for prospective students.
The DharmaRealm is a forthcoming podcast produced by myself and the Rev. Harry Bridge of the Lodi Buddhist Church.
The site design is intended to be a stylistic and beautiful home for the podcast, but not get in the way of the podcast itself.
This represent my second major WordPress theme.

The buddha is my dj has been the home of my personal blog since January of 2004 (when all of that content was moved from this site).
More than just my own occasional musings on everything from Buddhism to music to politics to pop-culutre, the site also allows me the space and freedom to experiment with web design and development.
Needless to say, it's gone through several incarnations.
It's current design represents my first major WordPress theme.

I worked with Education Unlimited from 2003 through 2007. For their website, I did two major site redesigns and the following enhancements:

William F. Cody, a long-time fixture in the local arts and antiques scene in Humboldt Count, opened his gallery with partner Bruce Pettit in 2005. They needed a site to showcase the art and antiques on display without distracting visitors.
Accordingly, I created a simple design that creates the sense of being in Eureka, home to a thriving arts community. The contnet changes sporatically as they exhibit different artists, so I included a slideshow to display this work.
After designing a site for her husband's art gallery, I designed an art blog for Humboldt County Artist Linda Mitchel.
Linda wanted a simple site to showcase her art and the ability to manage and archive photographs and conent. The easiest solution was to install an MoveableType blog.
Using MoveableType, I created a design that was inspiried by but would not detract visitors from her art which is the focal point of the site.

Dr. Payne contacted me with some trepidation. She had had a negative experience with her previous web designer but was looking for a new and fresh design for her private practice.
In our initial consultation, there were recuring themes of water, reflection and reflecting pools, the tranquility of Japanese gardens, and paths in what Dr. Payne was describing. Accordingly, I wanted to create a site that brought these themes together in some subtle way while not making the site look like an advertisement for the Tea Gardens at Golden Gate Park.
The result is a simple design whose layout did not depart drastically from her original site. The pathway in the banner acts as a connector to the main body content. And the links, texts, and colors work from the same pallet to accentuate the calm and warmth in Dr. Payne's original consultation.
